Emoji Birthday Party

image

Finally getting around to sharing this with you all. Those who know me know I love hosting. I am also absolutely obsessed with Themed Parties!!! For the past 3 years I hosted a BBQ at the beach to celebrate my birthday but this year I decided to keep it simple and have a small party at home.

We all love emojis and social media, and hey who says themed parties are only for our children?? Lol so an Emojis party it was for my birthday. I started with making the photobooth props. I made 6 Emoji Masks and a few other smaller Emoji props and an Instagram picture prop. They were all so fun to make.

I then found these wood signs at Target on sale and painted them which inspired the rest of the decor.

I took down the plates on my plate wall and set up the wall with a Handmade Banner, tissue paper flowers, the @ sign and a Homemade repurposed chalkboard

I also used an old shower curtain as a back drop and covered the green circles with yellow circles and turned some of them into emojis. Then just added a black chalkboard banner.

I used the props, sunflowers and some homemade sweet treats to finish decorating. How cool are these adorable poop Emoji chocolate cupcakes????

I just love how cute the turned out. Here a few more pics of the set and party. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.

Summer is here!

2016 has been quite a whirlwind so far. I can say this is definitely not our Year but that’s ok. You know how it goes just when you think you are getting over one hurdle there goes the next one sneaking up on you. I can’t complain because no matter how bad things may seem at the moment WE have been blessed with a great support system and of course I am so very thankful for our amazing family. Most importantly we have each other and our faith to keep us going. I do know we will make it through anything together.

I have been MIA and not posting lately. With everything going on I honestly have not been very inspired. With things finally starting to look up I do intend to start catching up on old post I have been wanting to share. So be on the look out for many new posts in the next few days.

With that said Summer is here!!!!! This school year flew by in the blink of an eye. My Son just finished his last year in middle school. As a mother it is very bitter-sweet. I wish I could turn back time and start all over. I really miss his toddler years. These past 3 years are huge blur to me at the moment. I am very proud of my baby boy who ended the year on a great note  and even bringing up his grades despite some rough times. We are now entering those crazy and scary ( mostly scary for Mom of course) teen years. Boundaries are being tested, rules need to be adjusted , attitudes are a constant, and emotions tend to ride high. Not only is it all new for him but it is a whole new world for us as parents. This is going to be a very interesting journey for us.

So for now I plan on making this a family summer to remember. I am pretty sure after he starts highschool his summer plans will mostly involve time with friends. I plan on hosting many different activities and events with family and friends and maybe even some traveling. Although I do not think I am ready for it, I know he will conquer not just Highschool but everything else he sets out to do.

I’m still here!!!

I can’t believe this is my first post of the new year. I hope 2016 has been good to you all so far. During the Holidays things were hectic and very busy for me. I missed out on sharing some great blog posts with you all. To recap I hosted my First Friendsgiving and only had a chance to do a quick post to share my backdrop. I also hosted an Ugly Sweater party for my Other half whose birthday is the day after Christmas. I have always wanted to throw an ugly sweater party and his 35th birthday was the perfect excuse to finally host one. Both events were so much fun and I can’t wait to eventually share them with you in the future.

Things have been crazy for us lately and added to it is my Thyroid which I have been struggling with for a while now. Between the fatigue, switching doctors, not being on medications, and everything else on my plate I have been  an absolute mess lately and I can’t wait to just feel myself again. I have horrible Thyroid brain. ( brain fog but we just blame it on the Thyroid ) I’m not only constantly forgetting what I’m saying but I lose things, and even worse tend to hurt myself or burn myself while cooking or doing my hair ect. Lol I always seem to be in a daze. In February I wrote a post on one of my Valentine Projects a DIY Marquee LOVE sign I made. I don’t exactly know or remember what happened but I seem to have thought I had posted it and I never did. I may have deleted it when I tried to post it because there was no draft for it either. I eventually gave up on the whole post after trying to rewrite it several  times. Lol I’ll get around to sharing that with you eventually because it’s a project I truly enjoyed.

Which brings me up to March. One of my favorite months. Not just because there are some great crafting opportunities with Dr.Suess birthday, St. Patrick’s day, and Easter but also because Some of my favorite people were born in March. Myself included :). So big shoutout to my Brother in law Oliver, My niece Josie, and My best friend Annette!!!!! This year I’ve decided to celebrate at home and host another themed party. I don’t know about you but I just love themed parties. I will be doing an Emoji / social media themed party and I can’t wait to come back and post about it after the 11th. For now I better get back to crafting. So much to do so little time!!!!

You’ve been Elfed!

As I was cleaning out my son’s bedroom a few months back, getting rid of the things he no longer uses we decided to part with some almost new board games (among other things of course). I took 2 bags full of stuff to Goodwill but couldn’t seem to part with those board games. I mean honestly they were pretty new only used a few times if even. Not missing one single piece. So I stacked them in the hallway and they have been there ever since.

As Christmas rolls around I’ve noticed these You’ve been Elfed ideas on pinterest. The concept being that you do something nice for your neighbors by leaving a treat at their door with a printed note then knocking and running before they see you. When they find it they make copies of the  note then cut and hang the elf on their door letting others know they have been elfed. They then choose 2 neighbors who have not been elfed and  do the same for them. The process continues with each person repeating the kind act.

Well I don’t know but I’m not to comfortable with leaving sweets outside at someone’s door not knowing how long before they are found. I also don’t know how others will feel about eating something they have no idea where it came from. Yet I loved the idea of doing a small act of kindness for my neighbors but decided I would use the printable and instead of using sweet treats I would leave a board game at two of my neighbors doors for their children.

The way I see it Christmas break is this week and these board games will get a good use. Who knows where they would have ended up if they would have been left at the good will. I’m sure the parents will be thankful and the kids will love the mystery of wondering who left it.

I went online and found a printable with a Poem, instructions for them to follow, and an elf for them to color and hang. I waited till 6 right when it got dark outside, I placed the board game and Poem right in front of their door, knocked as hard as I could, and ran back inside my house. It is easy for me because we live in town homes and I chose the neighbors on either side of me so I didn’t have to worry about running to far.

I walked out to the car and found the boys of one of my neighbors talking by the door saying “This is weird, they left us a game board, we don’t know who it was.”  They were so excited it made me smile. I played along and asked to see the board game and paper. They were all laughs, giggles and excitement, telling me exactly what happened.

I guess I didn’t knock hard enough at the other neighbors door because I walked out to use the phone and they had not found their surprise yet. As I was out there though they happened to be leaving and found it as they walked out of the house. I got to see their excitement and smiles as they read their note and looked around in excitement to see if anyone else had been elfed.

It was a great way to get into the Christmas spirit.

The black and white elf and instructions were found online. They have several different version you can choose from. I hope you all decided to give it a try and spread some cheer.

Update:
I was sooooo excited to spot a few of these up in my complex. Maybe next Christmas it will spread a bit more. Can’t wait to try it again.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU ALL!

My DIY Friendsgiving Photo booth and Props

You guys I have to say I am so in love with this simple DIY photobooth and props I made when I hosted my very First Friendsgiving. I am so excited to share them with you.

image

I used gold, white, and orange streamer to cover my dinning room mirror, then added string lights as an accent , and made a simple banner using doilies, gold paint, and brown card stock.
I then used an assortment of colored card stock I purchased at Michaels to make the props for the photobooth.

I really loved how cute they turned out. Not to mention how much fun we had using them at our Friendsgiving. If you have an Etsy account feel free to look up KarlitasKreations and favorite my shop, I will be posting items up soon. In the meantime here are some close ups of each prop.

I do not have a cricut/silhouette or fancy scissors so it is all drawn out and cut by hand. I hope you all love it as much as I do.
